XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 delivery delay issues

The previous thread that mentioned issues of the Studio XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 being delayed or having extensive build times was locked. After a months time I had ordered mine (9/26) and it was supposed to ship on (10/22), after two delays it finally shipped out and will be received today (10/28). If you have any issues or have found any solutions to help get your systems sooner please help others that have also been in this predicament. It would seem the main issue is due to the high demand of I5 and I7 processors and parts being backordered. If you call customer service after a delay often times they will upgrade you to one day shipping, even though it took them three days to actually get it out.

I am on A03 as well and did this.

Thanks for the link.

So from what I can tell, enabling Speedstep and C-State (which were supposed to be "Enabled" by default but are not)  is all that can be accessed in the bios and all that is necessary to allow Turbo Boost to operate.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this topic for technical issues.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.  I just wanted to let you know that your post will probably be deleted due to violation of TOS because of the asterisks.  Dell representatives don't seem to be upset about all of the problems listed in this thread, but they won't let us get away with asterisks.

Lucky for you I ordered my xps9000 on October 11th, received it on Novemeber 6th and had nothing but problems with it.  The agreed to replace the system and the order went into production on Dec 15th, with a promise to have it received by the 31st.  That has come and gone.  I was then told that the system was built and waiting to be shipped and I should have it on January 8, that has come and gone.  Now I am told at least another week. Well I have filed complaints with the State of Texas, the Better business bureau, and now I have it in the hands of a lawyer, because of all the flat out lies and promises.  I have lost a large amount of money and clients not having a stable working computer, and now I have to go to the hospital for tests overnight, with nothing to use to even try to keep current with all my work.  Dell is a bunch of liars and Ill wait for my xps 9000 and hopefully they will get theirs.  I will never again deal with Dell, nor would I reccomend their products to any clients or businesses.  I am so sick of all the apoliogies and not getting any anwsers.  Now its wait and see, but I will not give up the fight, and will keep fighting till I get what I was promised

My current estimated delivery date is 1/12/2010 (tomorrow), but the order status still shows "In Production."  This is weird because they usually update with a delay at least a few days before.  I'm assuming it is delayed yet again, but did anyone have a similar situation?

Ordered XPS 8000 on 12/09/2009

EDD - Original - 01/04/2010

EDD - 1st Update - 12/28/2009 (They changed the shipping method to Next Business Day.  After that I assumed there would be a delay coming soon...)

EDD - 1st Delay - 01/08/2010

EDD - 2nd Delay - 01/12/2010 (Along with the email and phone call, "Order Delayed.  Your Action is Required")

I really don't understand the process.  I know systems are all different but it seems to be hit or miss.  I ordered on the 12/1/2009 and received on 12/16/2009 even though I had to threaten to take my money elsewhere after the first delay.  If you are out of parts make it known to your customer that you are out with an email and give them another choice or refund.  Why fight with them?  Also orders should be first in, first out if you have the components but I don't think that is happening here at all. I am very surprised by all of this and I guess the little man cannot get good customer service anymore.  If that is the case then shut down your internet operation and send everything to Best Buy or other retailers and support through them.  this level of effort with the CS is terrible.

Sounds like another delay coming your way.

Almost same situation here...ordered (3 XPS 8000s) 12/4/09, EDD 12/23/09, EDD 12/29/09, EDD 1/6/10, EDD, 1/13/10, received emails for all delays.  While on the phone  with DELL the guy told me they are doing their best to get it to me by EDD of 1/20/10.  Website still said 1/13/10 and I never got an email.  Next day site said 1/20/10 and I never did get an email.

Does anyone know of a site that lists actual length of time from order to delivery?  I know a few people mentioned dates here, but with the majority of order/delays I've seen more people cancel than actually end up posting a delivery date.  I'm just wondering what the longest wait time has been.

After reading more posts, I'm not just concerned about the delivery customer service.  I'm wondering if I even want to wait for a system that (if it does have problems) might leave me in this "wait and see" CS limbo for many months to come.

I do and actually I found two and emailed both of them. But I got no answer from any of them. I don't think that he is using them at all. They should be more of a fake emails to keep you busy.

Drop me a note in private and I will give them to you.

this system wouldn't let me contact you (imagine that!) but I think I found the 2 emails that you have.  Sounds like any attempt to contact them doesn't work anyway.

I'm in exactly the same situation with the exception of my order being placed on the 10th (which was a weekend).

I just got an email at 3:14 AM (today was the estimated delivery date) notifying me of my 3rd delay.  Now it is bumped up to 1/19/2010.  This is getting out of hand.  6 weeks for a computer is outrageous, but my deal was so good that I can't afford to cancel.  Did you get another delay too, DR2ooo?

Update.

They still haven't shown me the decency of responding to any of my emails, or calling me, or anything.

But I got yet another one of those automated emails to tell me that my order is delayed yet again. This time supposedly to 1/22. (ordered 11/27).

Delays are one thing. Stuff happens. It isn't pretty, but the real issue when stuff like this happens is how you handle the situation.

And the way they are (not)handling this is the bigger story. My son still doesn't have his computer, but at least he is getting a lesson in 'customer service'.
