XPS Core i7 in October
Well, it looks like we're very close to the launch of Nehalem. The Core i7 as it will be called will be available as quad-core CPUs in 2.66GHz, 2.93GHz and 3.2GHz flavors. The 3.2GHz version will be very expensive, but the 2.66MHz version will probably be very reasonable. The Core i7 will not use the old FSB like Core2. It will also have a large L3 cache. In sum, it looks like our Core 2 systems will be dated soon. Computer technology just keeps marching on!

eh, like money said this always happens but when it comes to real world usage we'll see. In a few months we see reviews showing the current crop of cpu surpassing anything i7 can handle. It will be some time before we see i7's true capability.
The good thing is that it will bring prices of current cpus down. :smileyhappy:

Hi,
Will the XPS 420 be user-upgradeable to the new i7 processor?
Thank you!

MaverickmanTP,
I'm pretty sure that it uses a different # of pins for the socket. Thus launching another flurry of MOBO upgrades. Tech drives sales again!

I was originally waiting for Nehalem but I'm a gamer and apparently all the reviews say that Nehalem won't increase your frame rate... Where it will increase your performance is general performance and multitasking. So if you are a gamer like me then don't worry about Nehalem. I just pulled the trigger on my XPS 630 since the main thing I'm concerned about is FPS.
