dell dimension E521 processor

In my Dell is a AMD 64 Athlon X2 4200+ 2,2GHz installed.

But if I take a look at the AMD site for 4200+ I see the ADA4200IAA5CU, ADO4200IAA5CU, ADO4200IAA5DD, ADA4200DAA5CD, ADA4200DAA5BV.

5 processors but wich one is intalled on my stock E521 computer.

Hi

I just joined and the best advice I can give you is Download SIW great site no virus or anything download SIW and it is FREE and it will tell you everything about your Computer chip socket speed Temperature of chip ect.

Let me know how you made out

I have downloaded SIW but see no the OPN tray number, but if in CPU Property  the Technology 90 nm is the same as the CMOS 90nm SOI and using a selection on the the socket AM2(940) , I see that only 2 processors are left over: ADA4200IAA5CU & ADO4200IAA5CU.
ADA is using 1.30V/1.35V   89 W and  ADO is using 1.20V/1.25V 65W, stil have to check which is the right one in my Dell DimE521???

Hi Toine3

I think 65W is the one you will need   I belive you can go with an amd athlon 64x2 5600+ 2.8 Gig  I read somwhere the motherboard can handle  up to 3000  3 gig but don't nail me on that

Hi Toine3

what I meant  is that you have ADO 4200IAA5C4  SIW should tell you how many watt you running  the ADA runs 89W  ADO runs 65W  to upgrade as above post

locked at AMD to compare

Let me know

Hi

Did some more checking SIW will not give you watt use but go to motherboards and you will see what is installed serial# ect. and than go to dell site and if they have it check your motherboard  (  if it is an Intelmotherboard go to intel.com you can see what the MAX is on Processors for that board)

hope this will help

Downloaded CPU-z  checked voltage=1.35V readings so it must be the ADA 89Watt. MBoard is a Dell OCT103. does Dell give any information about the Mboards????

Just to throw a spanner into the works here. I have the same setup (OCT103, AThlon 4200+, CPUz) and I get a voltage value of 1.1V. So where does that put me???

Is there no easy way to identify the thing without dismantling your PC???

Ok, first your using CPU-z and not GPU-z???

If its CPU-z check the technologie give the nm??

It could be a 65Watt version, so please check .

use CPU-z or SIW, this will identify without dismantling, but where did you measure the Voltage ?????

I am using CPU-z. It has a field called Core VID which says 1.100V. Unless I'm reading the wrong thing as voltage but I'm assuming that this is the correct field for voltage.
