e520 front panel microphone jack is not working nor is the back microphone jack
the sound jacks are but not the mic jacks. I am running XP pro. Everything says the jacks are working properly however when I do a mike test nothing happens?
Any help would be appreciated.

Did these jacks ever work? If they worked, have you recently installed or uninstalled anything?
Check the Sounds and Audio Devices panel, in the Control Panel and make sure your sound device (integrated audio or separate sound card whichever is applicable) is set as the default for the microphone.
