ePSA Pre Boot question
While researching a slow start up I ran this ePSA Pre boot test series. It only got to 98% before I quit. I kept seeing a very brief flash of a message that said ""waiting DST completion". After 2 hours I stopped the test. Is there an issue here?

Hi Jkorber,
Welcome to Dell Community.
I understand that you tried to run the ePSA test on the computer. Usually the Pre-boot assesment test should take about 5-10 mins depending on the system configuration. As it is not specified how the test was performed, I would request you to click on the link mentioned below. It has the steps and the link to fix if any error code comes up during the test.

Also it is advised that you disconnect all the power source from the computer and then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds and then connect the power source back to the computer before the test is performed. This will release the static electricity.

Thank you for the response.
I would like to inform you that the memory test takes time to get completed. Usually it takes about 30mins or more and it totally depends on Memory installed on the computer. However, be rest assured that the system should not have any problem as the Pre-boot assessment test has passed and came out with no error.
If there would have been any issue with the hardware of the system, then most of the time it will show up in the Pre-boot assessment test. You can also save the link mentioned below regarding Pre-boot assessment and the error codes for your future reference.

The test did take 10-15 minutes however I got a message that no issues were found so far, do I want to run remaining memory tests. When I clicked yes, it went on for about 90 minutes and at a continuing 96% I cancelled the test.

The reason I was running the test was because this new computer takes longer to boot to the Windows start up screen than my old Studio XPS MT. From button push it arrives at the DELL screen with the F2 and F12 selection options and the blue bar (already FULL) in 4 seconds then it sits on that screen for 50 to 60 seconds (NO HARD DRIVE ACTIVITY) before bringing up the "Windows Starting" screen which then takes another 5 to 20 seconds to get to my sign in screen. I thought this was way too long to start up.

Hi Jkorber,
Thanks for the response. I understand your concern. The boot time usually increases if a lot of programs gets loaded when the computer boots. It is advisable that you disable some of the start up programs which are not required when the computer boots usually the programs that are installed manually. To enable to disable a start up program please follow the following steps,
Go to start > run > type msconfig. This will open up System Configuration window. Then go to Start up tab and choose the name of the programs which were installed manually and uncheck them. Click on Apply and OK.
Then click on the Services tab and check the box Hide all Microsoft services and check the programs which were installed manually.

It was a faulty windows 7 install at factory. Got a new install and all was resolved.
