getting UPS 3.0 on an older Dell Studio XPS 435?

I have a Dell Studio XPS 435 running Windows 7.  It has several USB 2.0 ports.  Is there any way to set this up so that I can operate at least one USB 3.0 ports?  (If I need to add a card, please let me know).

Hello jrjimjr,

For your system you'll need to get an add-in card.  I'd recommend something that has a PCI-express x1 connection.  I'm not sure if you have the 435MT or 435T (also called the Studio 9100), but both models have PCI-express x1 slots.  There's not a way to reconfigure a USB 2.0 port to run at USB 3.0 speeds.

Hope this helps!

Very Easy to accomplish this with a PCI-E USB 3.0 card

You want to make sure the card comes with POWER cord because USB 3 ports put out 900MA when they are properly designed.

You could swap in a newer motherboard; there were a few Socket 1156 boards made with USB 3.0.
