hard drive issue

I have installed my hard drive from my XPS/Dimension 400/9150 into my new Inspiron 546 MT.   My motherboard went when lightening hit it.

I got the hard drive in, and turned it on, but nothing happened.  What should I do or should it recognize the slave/secondary hard drive?

I may have not plugged everything in.  One wire was yellow that went to the other hard drive which I believe was the power, I plugged it also into the other hard drive.  The other was a mixed color of wires that I plugged in.  Should there be another wire I should have plugged in?

I am quiet lost.

Hello,

Here is the page for your model to help see if your hard drive is installed right.

Once you have all the connections correct, you need to enter the BIOS settings and turn on the port for the new drive.

If the drive is not seen after everything is done, consider the lightening might have cooked the drive. :emotion-52:
