question with running 2 moniters on the same computer

i recently added a second monitor to my dell 4500 dimension the question i have is i hooked up my 1st monitor 18.1 ultrasharp flat panal using the dvi output on my ati 9000 pro 128 mb video card i hooked up a 15 inch dell crt monitor two the other out put whenever the screen saver come on i can only see it on the flat panal i also cant view video from real player or windows media player on the second display is this normall everthing else works fine. thanks
