(redirected) upgrading from core i3 to i5
I'm currently using dell inspiron15 3521 core i3-3217U CPU @1.8GHz. Can I upgrade it to core i5 or i7? I need more processing speed for programming and coding software.

You cannot replace or upgrade the processor in this system, because it's a BGA processor, meaning it is permanently soldered to the system board, if it fails, then motherboard must be replaced along with the processor.
