I recently changed from vista to win 8.1, having backed up and restored normally with Macrium. Yesterday came across a cd wiith .dsb files. May not be important but I'd like to open them before discarding. However it would appear I have removed Dell Datasafe from computer, and when I tried to open the exe file it said,Dell datasafe local backup cannot be installed because your hard drive does not have the Windows recovery Environment.The question is: how can I open these files, which may or may not be useful. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Cathgane,
You're in a tough spot. If you paid for Dell Datasafe Local Backup, try calling Dell. But since you wiped the Vista recovery partition, you're not going to be able to install Datasafe.
