sound cards in Dimension Desktop 4550
Hi to the forum members,
My problem this time is the fact that I took out the original sound card-- the soundmax 198 or what ever and replaced it with a SB Live! 0203 5.1 spkr. card. I downloaded and installed the update from the Dell Drivers site and it works. The large yellow question mark looking for multimedia audio controller drive is now where the original soundmax was. Is there a way I can get rid of the question mark in my dev. mgr? In reading about this on the troubleshooting pages here at Dell I belaieve there was something about turning the former device off using system bios. Can you tell me how to do this without affecting the card I am now using?

You state that large yellow? Is where the original sound Macs was. Have you tried just unstalling the old driver. I myself think this would be safer than screwing in the system bios. When this computer was a dimension 4550 though I never replace the sound card I did have a few issues updating the drivers. Hope this helps
