upgrading old dell optiplex 170L
Hi All,
I have an old optiplex 170L and I would like to reuse the micro tower which I like very much and upgrade it's components (motherboard, cpu, etc.) , so as to have a faster pc for surfing the web - (not for playing games) could anyone suggest a shopping list for me.
I"ll be grateful for any help.

Hi nelold,
Welcome to the Dell Community Forum,
Since the computer purchased was old and due to its old-age upgrading parts will cost you a lot of money using which you can buy a new computer.
I’d suggest you to please check new computers available from Dell where you can get a better and a newer technology with the same cost.
Please click on the link below which has some latest Optiplex Computers.

Let us know if this helps.

A used GX620 or better tower is newer, faster, and inexpensive and can be had for almost the cost of parts and is capable of running all versions of windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 if you get one with Pentium D processor.
