Hi,

Did you run Dell diagnostics on computer? If not, you can run Dell diagnostics from F12 following the steps below:

  • Please restart the system.
  • As soon as you see the blue Dell logo, start tapping the ‘F12’ key which is at the top of the keyboard.

Note: If you wait too long and the Microsoft Windows appears, then continue to wait until you see the Windows desktop. Now shutdown your computer and try again.

  • After tapping ‘F12’ key then a new window will appear. Now highlight the “Boot to utility partition” and press ‘Enter’ to initiate diagnostics.

Please make a note of error message or code if any.

Also, please let me know the symptoms of the issue. Are you able see anything on screen while running diagnostics?

You can check the status (solid or blinking) of four diagnostics lights on front of your computer.      (Screenshot of diagnostic lights)

Most likely It is an issue with video card of your computer and might need replacement. You can also try removing the discrete the video card and try using the integrated one.

You can check the video cards compatible with your computer available on Dell.com from the link: http://dell.to/SfoPBP . Availability of these graphics card may vary depending on your region.

Please reply in case you have further questions.

Thanks for responding.  I did what you explained.  Everything look good with the exception of 2 boards i had to answer yes or no to.  I was not sure if they are suppose to be blinking.  It was the color attributes line 8 thru F where blinking, the horizontal ones.  If they are not suppose to blink the error code is 5300:041E.  Still not sure what the problem is, this started when all of a sudden minecraft decided not work correctly.  Now mind you this was a month after we bought it and it was fine.  For the first minute it worked fine, then the color just start glitching.

Hi,

Error code '5300:041E' indiicates "user's response indicated a failure of a text mode pattern using video mode." In order to assist you in a better way, please provide me the following information:

  • Could you please elaborate the issue whether it happens randomly or happen once in a while?
  • Do you get this issue while running a specific application?
  • Try using an external monitor of your computer and see if you are facing the same issue there as well.
  • Please let me know the status of four diagnostic indicators on the front of the system tower.
  • Check for the beep codes if any.

You can check the PCI express slot if the video card is installed, if it is. Remove it and then Try using your computer. If there is no card installed on the PCI express slot, it is most likely an issue with motherboard of computer.

Note: Please ensure to power off the computer and remove all the external peripherals connected to the system before you open the system chassis.

For more details, you can refer to the link:  http://dell.to/TZWiQy

Please reply with the information.

1--It happens every time we try and play minecraft

2--Minecraft

3--Now my monitor is blank.  It starts up fine with the windows log and the begining set up.  But now its blank, I did try another monitor and the same issue.  Meaning it being blank after start up.

4--On start up all 4 lights show, while running only #3 blinks

5--No beep codes

Have not tried to check the PCI express yet due to the fact that now the monitor is blank.

Hi,

My apologies for delayed response. It appears to be an issue with the motherboard of your computer. You can try removing/reseating the PCIe card and check if it makes any difference.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Please reply with information.

Hi,

Thank you for your quick response. I have received the 'Service tag' of your computer. If you are comfortable, you can follow the steps below to remove the video card and then try powering on the computer:

  • Power off the computer and disconnect all the external peripherals connected with computer.
  • Disconnect the AC power cable from the back of the system.
  • Locate the expansion card.

  • Push and rotate the expansion card securing bracket to release the expansion card.

  • Pull on the tab to release the expansion card.

  • Lift the expansion card from the chassis.

R
emove the video card and see if it works.

Please reply with the findings.

Yes I pulled out the video card an now the monitor is working.  So I guess the card went bad,  is there a warranty on the card it self?

If not i have a older video card Radeon 9500pro ATI 128mb, and it is designed for windows XP.  But it requires a connection to my pc's internal power supply for operation.  A 300watt  power supply or greater is recommended.  Is this possible?

How do i proceed?

Thanks

Hi,

The warranty on the video card would completely depend up on the warranty on the computer, unless it is purchased separately. In case you have purchased the video card separately, you might need to get in touch with the manufacturer of the graphics card to know about the warranty status.

Dimension E520 was shipped with a 305W power supply. however, the card that you have mentioned is an AGP card. Dimension E520 does not have an AGP slot. So this card will not work on this computer.
