wake up monitor connected via HDMI-DVI adapter

Hi, I just got a new XPS 8920 from Costco that was connected to my older Dell monitor via HDMI to DVI adapter.

The monitor comes on when I start the computer, but will not wake up automatically from sleep mode unless I push the power button on the CPU slightly.

Is there something I can do, or is it just a problem because of incompatibility with the older monitor.

Thank you! Kim

Hi Kim,

How old the monitor is?

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Change advance power settings and modify the settings as you wish.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag

"... push the power button on the CPU slightly" sounds like a problem taking the CPU out of sleep mode and having nothing to do with the monitor. The monitor does not go to sleep, it only responds to the signals or lack of signals from the video card. As suggested you should look at the Power Options.
