xps 600, 2 8800 GTS, x-fi, Fix w/ A06

Finally got my two BFG Geforce 8800 GTS working with x-fi by flashing back to A06. Thanks to Contrvlr. Did all the other stuff mentioned in other posts. Remove x-fi and drivers, install one gts at a time, reseat cards, make sure power connections connected. Could never get resources freed up according to device manager. Until I flashed to A06. Now am golden. Thanks to all.

xps 600, P4 @ 3ghz, 2gb ram, 160 gb hd, BFG 8800 GTS x2, dell 2001fp x2, dell 3007wfp x1, soundblaster x-fi,

I am not running the cards in sli yet, as I am waiting on a sli bridge. My setup is running the 3 monitors above though. Oh, and bf 2142 seems to be running excellantee on the 3007 @ 1960x1200, 2x AA

Let me make this clear: One Gts would always work in my xps 600 with X-fi. Two cards together didn't work at all with or without X-fi. Now with Bios A06 both cards are working with X-fi.

Yes, that is what I am saying. Bios A11 wouldn't recognize two gts. When I flashed to Bios A06 (I had already pulled the x-fi card and deleted its drivers at this point) my system saw and installed both cards (which, both were in the computer when I flashed from 11 to 6) That's what worked for me. No guarantees, just my experience. I don't understand why an older Bios would work, over a newer one. But from other posts that I have read, some have gotten their cards installed and working trying different things, from what I gather they did not have to flash the Bios. So, you know how it is: keep trying things until something works. One thing is for sure something is funked up with Nvidia drivers & Dell Bios & X-fi drivers on the xps 600 & 700 with 8800 Gtx & Gts.

with all those issues i would lose that retarted x-fi card!! it isnt worth the hassles or issues.. i would use the integrated audio of the motherboard.. the sound is fine for me..

Yeah, I hear ya. I just don't want to touch anything. Now that I've got it all working. Although, I finally got a sli bridge. Connected it. Set up sli in Nvidia control panel. Got it to work with my dell 3007, finally, after fanagling with the setup configuration in said control panel. Got 6940 in 3dmark06, which is about 1200 points higher than I was getting with a single Gts. But it's just to much of a hassle going back and forth from sli to non-sli, and rebooting and all that. I know my three monitors are not the easiest setup for sli. I can play all my games with no problems on a single gts. Right now I'm sure (as some on this forum have pointed out) my computer is cpu limited (p4, 3ghz) to get any real, noticable difference in sli. I do more 2d stuff anyhow. So I'll probably stay away from sliing-up my computer until I order or build another one.

Call Dell parts; 1-800-449-3355, Ext. 7269937. They will need your Service Tag number. My part number was ND756, that is for the xps 600. You can also order them from Ebay. Just Google "Sli Bridge Connector". The space between my two cards was 2 inches. Which is the length of the connector that worked for me, on my xps 600.
