Dell Optiplex 9020 Display port

I have two system dell optiplex 9020 MT and SFF.

I have one monitor with HDMI cable. I want to use single monitor for both system. So I have connected one system to VGA of monitor and now want to connect another system with HDMI.

Dell System has DP port so I think I have to DP Male to HDMI female connector. I have searched lot but not able to find which one is good.

Some says it requires active adapter and that is my confusion point. What is it ?

Do I have to check display port version while purchasing cable ?

Please provide suggestion.

Hi Jinal14821,

What video output ports are available on the PCs and what input ports do you have on the monitor?

Greetings Jinal14821,

Thanks for your post.

It's not likely that you'll be needing an active adapter. The cases I've seen that were resolved by throwing in an active adapter were all multiple monitor set-up situations.

The Optiplex 9020 DisplayPort will accommodate DP to HDMI adapters.

Below is a Dell kit part number that comes with 2 pieces and should work just fine for you:

TK041 - Display Port to HDMI Video Cable.

Dell optiplex 9020  PC : Display Port and VGA

Dell S2240L Monitor :  HDMI and VGA.

I want PC display port to HDMI.

Let me know further detail.

I have purchased another desktop Optiplex 9020 SFF and I want to use Single monitor with both of them so One with display port to HDMI and Another with VGA to VGA. I am using one CPU at a time.
