Dimension T500 RAM three 512mb chips?

Would there be any benefit to installing three 512MB ram sticks in a Dell Dimension T500.  It is supposed to only be able to have three 256MB sticks, but I think that was written before the 512 MB sticks were available.  Thanks for your thoughts.

That system has the Intel 440BX chipset, which supports no more than 1GB of memory with the right implementation of the motherboard. The Dell implementation also needs low density memory if I remember correctly, which may mean that only the first half of your 512MB dimms are seen/recognized as they would most likely be high-density.

There appears that there is no Dimension T400 model, but there is a Dell XPS Txxx Series.

The XPS Txxx Series only supports three 256mb SDRAM modules,  you cannot use 512mb modules and/or High Density memory in this series.

Did I do a typo somewhere?  I have a Dimension XPS T500.

Thank you.  I do not want to experiment, I just want to max out my RAM for all the usual reasons, and I can do it for under $20.00.  Seemed like a good idea at the time as XP can handle the extra memory if I could get it in there.

From the table of specifications provided in the previous answer, I have these questions.

Why is my originally installed RAM, 256 MB (2x128) 133 mhz instead of 100 mhz?

Would there be much benefit to replacing the 500 mhz peocessor with a 850 mhz(the fastest supported) processor.

This is a great old machine, but a little slower now than it used to be with XP installed.
