Failed Hard Drive?
Is there a way to retrieve everything from a failed hard drive?

If the data is important enough, you could hire a data recovery firm.
This will be expensive, but it's probably the best chance to recover the data from the drive.

Depending on how damaged the hard drive is, first try removing the failed hard drive and use an USB adaptor similar to the following:

attach the hard drive to a USB port of a working computer and see if you can transfer the files and folders you need, to the computer.
Note: Only data files and folders can be transferred, any applications, utlities and programs, need to be reinstalled from their CD's, or downloaded from the publisher's website, if the Hard drive is too badly damaged, then you would need the services of a Data Recovery Company

Sorry to hear about your data, Bev is absolutely right (great answer) and while data recovery/hard drive acc's/software etc can be costly it's probably worth a shot if you have some important stuff on there. I know one of my friends had to pay a decent amount but had some success with data recovery through a 3rd party and was able to recover family pictures etc.
I hope you have success as well!
Best regards,
Brad

Thanks for your reply. It wouldn't be worth me paying out much. I have a friend who's husband has a USB adapter and if all else fails I will post the hard drive to him.
