Floppy disk problem on Optiplex Gx1

I've got a problem copying files greater than a few kilobytes to a floppy disk. A blue screen appears during the copy with an error message, but the copy may continue after pressing a key, then the blue screen appears again and so on until the copy ends. The file seems to exist on the disk but in fact is not accessible because of an CRC error.
First time this appeared I searched for virus, then changed the floppy drive, then the cable, then reinstall the system (Win98SE). Now, 3 Optiplex computers presents the same problem.
My optiplex are GX1 500 MTbr + and Bios A07

Christian55,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Are you using the same floppy disk? If so, try an different floppy disk to see if the problem persist.

No, I've tried different floppies.
I also tried to format one, but it failed, saying that there is no diskette in the drive or of wrong format.

But I can copy a big file (600 Kb) from the floppy to the hard disk.

Many GX1 come with a floppy made by TEAC and its junk.
Get a floppy drive made by Sony or NEC and it will work fine.

The TEAC drives are VERY VERY picky about which disks work.
