Help me upgrade an old Optiplex 380 SFF

My machine currently has an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 but I would like to upgrade it to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 or Core 2 Duo E8600. Would either them work without having to change the PSU?

I would like to put the maximum amount of RAM inside, Crucial tells me its 8GB, Dell's tech guide says 4GB. Who is correct?

I need to add a HDMI port, can anyone recommend me the best card for this machine, remember it is SFF. I won't be gaming but I need it to cope with (HD) video files and I prefer nVidia.

Thanks

No such Model 830

SFF has few options

USFF has NONE.  No slots.

Sorry I meant 380, I have adjusted it now.

Would the Asus NVidia GT 730 1GB GPU work in this machine? It is fanless so consumes less power.

You can only use LOW PROFILE cards that use 19W to 25W max.  Like Radeon HD3450/5450 or Geforce 8400. Card Dimensions: 5 3/4" (14.6cm) in Length x 2 3/8" (6.0cm) in Width x 5/8" (1.6cm) in Thickness

Specifically One card from ONE vendor.   ASUS EAH 5450.

Some LOW Profile cards WILL NOT FIT.  The ASUS Silent 5450 and 6450 Definitely will.

The low profile must be REALLY low profile or the cover will not go on or the heatsink will prevent the hard drive bracket from going back in or both.

Get an ASUS SILENT RADEON HD 5450.  THE EAH5450 from ASUS fits in ALL Models of GX280 EXCEPT THE USFF Pictured Below.   THE 5450 Comes with 2 sets of brackets for Low Profile or standard slots.

If you have USFF you cannot install ANY card because there are no slots.

EAH5450 SILENT/DI/512MD3(LP) AMD Radeon HD 5450 1024MB DDR3 PCIe 2.1 x16 Video Card
