Need Advice on Installing All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro Video Board

I recently purchase a Dell Demension 8300 configured with: 3.4GHz processor, 1Gb Memory, Windows XP Home Edition, and NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Card.  I just installed the ATI TV Wonder (PCI) Tuner card to watch TV will I work.  A couple of times will using the tuner card, the system locked up and I could not do a normal shut down.  That is my first problem.  I would like replace the NVIDIA with the ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 Pro.  Can this be done?  Will there be any problems?  Any help out there?  Dell suggested I join the forum for help.  Help!  lep326.

The Dell Dimension Video forum and the Gaming forum have quite a bit of information on video card upgrades, you can check those for more specific answers.

The upgrade should be fine, provided you fully uninstall the old drivers (the most common cause of problems is bits of the old drivers remaining).  Use the Driver Heaven Driver Cleaner to make sure you've removed all trace of the old drivers.  Detailed instructions can be found on the Video forum's FAQ, or in the program's help file.

Also be aware that ATI has some problems on hypertheading systems causing the tv tuner to stop responding. Check out http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;817589 . The fix allows the tv tuner to turn off without shutting the system down and is a downloadable patch.

Thanks for the help.  I contacted Microsoft.  They sent me the Hotfix and the tuner has not locked up as of yet.
