www.dell.com/.../cto8930w10pcfl1h
Does this particular model's power supply use pure sine wave or something else? What UPSes would be compatible with it?

We do not have that answer (pure sine wave) nor do we have a list of tested UPS. I can tell you the Dell part number and manufacturer of the PSU for this model. Perhaps the manufacturer website will have more data =
WC1T4 460w, 240v, Huntkey Electric Co Ltd, E-Star, RoHS Compliant, AFPC (Active Power Factor Correction)

As Chris noted, the power supply has Active Power Factor Correction.
Active PFC power supplies need input power that is compatible, and if you search the UPS vendors you'll find UPS that clearly state which units are APFC compatible.
I've read where people say they get by with a simulated sine wave UPS and have had no issues.
I've read where people complain that their systems crash or make a humming sound or or squeal when running on batteries when using a simulated sine wave UPS.
edit: so my point is, I think you need a pure sine wave UPS that claims APFC compatibility.
