Optiplex 780 MT RAM not compatible
I have done a lot of research regarding my issue....the fact so many people have had problems speaks volumes to me about DELL. I will seriously think hard before I purchase another Dell product base don this experience.
I am trying to upgrade the RAM my Dell Optiplex 780MT that was used in my kiosk. I am upgrading from 1GB to 4GB. NOTHING I put in it will work. I have tried the following:
Kingston Value RAM 4GB 1600MHz PC3-12800 DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM SR x8 Desktop Memory (KVR16N11S8/4)
Kingston Value RAM 4GB 1333MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM SR x8 Desktop Memory (KVR13N9S8/4)
The old RAM does work: which was also a Kingston; 1GB 10600U
What am I doing wrong? I have built systems many times and have never had these issues before.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I really appreciate it. I will order the 2 modules and provide an update.

Using only one 4-GB module may not be not compatible. RAM should be installed as matched pairs. And not all RAM is created equal.
If you want a total of 4 GB, you will probably need to install two 2-GB modules as a matched pair. Crucial has a 2x2-GB kit of DDR3-1600 RAM here for the 780MT. And if they recommend the RAM for a specific system, they'll take it back if it doesn't work.

You're welcome.
Hope that 2x2GB solves your problem.
