Precision Rack R5500 v. R7610 Power Consumption Differences
I know the Precisions are considered desktops not real servers but...
We have 15-20 T5500 towers that we are considering switching over to the R5500 chassis. Alternately we would sell the T5500's and purchase/upgrade to the R7610 with 8-core CPUs vs. the T5500's which currently have 6-core CPUs.
Question for anyone who has had either of these machines in a rack with metered power situation: When the machines are at idle, does the R7610 draw significantly less power than the R5500?

And if you have a tech support specialist assigned to your company's account, they might be able to answer your questions.

Thanks Ron, we don't have a rep. We are a four-person operation and we have purchased all of that hardware from third parties (ebay). I purchased a R5500 chassis and I'm going to switch one over and put it on the metered PDU in the rack so we can make a decision from there. I'll report back in a few weeks and update the post just incase anyone else searches for something similar.
