Running Windows Server 2008 Standard on XPS 720

Hi,

I've got an XPS 720 with 4GB of RAM, Q6600 processor, nVidia 8800 video card with X-Fi sound card. I'd like to either add another driver and/or create another parition with which to install Windows Server 2008 Standard. Will my XPS 720 be able to run it properly as a desktop OS?

Thanks.

Eric

I prefer the dual drive option. Why tie up you main drive when with the cheap price of drives today. Also if one of the OS bombs out you would only have to work on that drive not the main drive.

I went the dual boot when I tried out Vista 64 and XP, and will do the same thing again when windows 7 comes out.

The basic requirement are HERE

The 720 definatly meets or exceeds these. Now drivers might be your biggest issue.

Thanks for the reply. Would I be better creating a 100GB active partiion on my C drive with Acronis for a dual boot situation or should I drop an additional drive into my XPS unit?

Thanks for the additional info. I opted to go with an additional drive: I ordered a 500GB 7200RPM NCQ SATA hard drive from Dell today. It's labeled as being for the XPS 730 system, but I figure it'll work with my XPS 720 too (it has a 320GB SATA 7200 RPM NCQ drive currently as well). I will load Server 2008 Standard onto the second drive.
