Scanjet Driver Causes Stop Error XPS Gen3

Hi All, This is my first post, and I could really use some help. I just purchased an HP Scanjet G4050, and whenever I try to install the driver I get a blue screen with a stop error 0X00000051 (0X00000004, 0X00000001, 0XE383A950, 0X00002DF8). HP tech support told me that this is a problem with my computer, and Dell tech support spent over an hour with me trying to fix the problem. We updated the BIOS & chipset, but my computer crashes each time I try to install the driver. The driver from the HP website causes the same problem. It seems like it's a registry error, but I don't know much about that. I've searched, but could not find anyone experiencing the same problem. I have an XPS Gen3 running XP Pro. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Mark

Mark_I,

Have you tried installing the scanjet on another PC?

Hi Chris, Thanks for the response. I was able to install it on my old Dimension 4300, but it's a little slow these days and I would much rather get it working on my XPS. Mark

No, the older Dimension is running XP Home SP2.

Mark_I,

Are both PCs running XP pro?
