Screen goes blank

I have a XPS 8700 just a few months out of warranty, the monitor will say "entering power save mode" and go black, nothing brings it back on. The monitor power light stays blue and the workstation power indicator is still on. Dell support had me reload the O.S. after trying many things. At this point it looks like a hardware problem to me and I was wandering if my SSD drive would be cheapest to replace or the motherboard?

Sounds more like a video card or monitor problem. Have you tested this monitor on a different PC or a different monitor on this PC?

If you have an add-in video card, remove it from the PC and connect the monitor to one of the on-board video ports (either HDMI or DisplayPort, depending on what ports the monitor has). Read the manual for instructions to remove the video card.

If switching to on-board video works, you may need to replace the video card...
