Serial No., Service Tag, Product Key - what's the difference?
Are all of them unique to my computer or are some of them more general? I can only find a serial no. on my old Dell 166.... on my newest I see only a product key.. the ones in the middle seem to have the service tag and the product key. Which should I use to identify a computer contacting Dell?

The product key should be for reinstalling Windows. If the middle numbers in the product key are the same as your S/N that's probably just a coincidence.
BTW, record that product key in a safe place in case the tag gets obliterated. If you ever have to reinstall Windows you will need it.
