TV Only Showing Black and White with S-Video

I've got a Dell Dimension 4600 with an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 video card. I have it hooked up to my tv through the s-video out on the card and the s-video input on the TV but I'm only getting black and white on the TV. I have downloaded the latest driver from Nvidia and the problem is still here.

You must switch to PAL.

I can't figure out how to switch to PAL. I've been looking all through the setup stuff, but don't see it. Any instructions on doing it would be helpful. Besides, aren't I supposed to use NTSC in the U.S.?

If you went through the steps on the link below and still have the problem, look at the length of your S-video cable. I think 10' is maximum with out an S video booster (you can get at radio shack). You can put up to a 6' lead into it from your computer and then up to 26' on the other end to the TV. "Monster" S video cables that say they do not need a booster "do" from my experience.

See if the s-video booster will fix your problem. You can always take it back to radio shack if it doesn't. If that doesn't fix it, post back.

Well I tried going through the steps on that site, but when I got to this step

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=gethowto&number=5&howtopage=97&howtoID=37

It says "Select PAL/NTSC, resolution (640x480 or 800x600, only expensive LCD TV screens can handle 1024x768, not much more I think)". Only all my tv-format buttons are grayed out (as they are on that screen) so I can't change anything. And my s-video cable is 12' long.

Did you try using a different s video cable? You may just be looking at a faulty cable.

It's not the cable. Last night, we tried hooking up my roommate's laptop to the tv in the living room and it got color with no problem.
