Windows 8 Drivers for Precision T1600 Workstation

Hi there,

I have a Dell Precision T1600 Workstation and could not find drivers for Windows 8 under its support page. Dell Customer Support has also confirmed that there are no Win 8 drivers for this machine. I was just wondering (before pulling the trigger to reinstall) if the Windows 7 drivers will work for Windows 8?

Hi prishalan,

This system has not been tested with Windows 8. You may refer to the following link on Dell Computer Support for Windows 8 Upgrade http://dell.to/12kQPKY. Hence appropriate drivers are not available and the system may exhibit issues with Windows 8.

This system has drivers available till Windows 7. Though, Windows 8 picks up most of the drivers automatically, but some of them may not work. You may try to install the drivers in compatibility mode. It might help.

  • Once you've download the file from our Support Site
  • Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties -- > Compatibility Tab.
  • Select Windows 7 from the list in the following image



  • Click Apply -- > OK
  • Right Click the file and select the 'Run As Administrator' to install the driver
