XPS 8300 - AMBER Motherboard/Power Light - Green Power Supply Light
hi guys
as per one of my friend I could replace my memory (RAM) up to 32GB, so I've ordered a couple sticks of Kingston HyperX
so I've took slot 1+2 and replaced 2 4GB Hynix RAM by 2 8GB HyperX...
Now I have a good old CPU that doesnt work plus it smell like burnt plastic with no apparent damage to the board or RAM...
Startup: 2x BEEP (No BIOS)
Motherboard Light: Solid Amber
Bootup Light: Flashing Amber
Power Supply Light: Solid Green
I've tried booting from a single RAM unit on slot one then slot two, and nothing has changed... anyone can help?

Dell Specifications say the XPS 8300 supports a maximum of 16GB of DDR3 memory and the maximum module size supported is 4GB. See Page 65 Here:

the only issue that I have with it, is I've tried all 6 memory module (one by one) in slot "1" then slot "2" and none of them works.... Not sure how all 6 went dead...?

Two 'Beeps' indicate that no RAM [memory] is detected, see page 31 of the link I posted.
That together with the smell of burnt plastic, would indicate that the motherboard has issues, [aka fried] and should be replaced, to see if this makes a difference.
A thought, did you try installing only the original memory modules, to see what happens?

OK, I thought by detected it meant by the module themselves... so by detected it can also indicate the slots on the motherboard
I dont think that I'm gonna replace the mainboard, will most likely go to a new machine instead
