insufficient memory
I just bought my Dell 2350 last week...and after installing two pieces of software (both of which are compatible with XP), my lovely computer decides that I will start receiving the error message "insufficient memory" and start running like an arthritic old lady.
What gives?

Pinnacle DV version 8
TurboTax
Before I installed both, not only did I check the information that came with both regarding XP, I called tech support for both pieces of software to confirm that they were, in fact, compatible with XP. They are. Computer ran fine for 3 days with both of these on there. Today it decides to get attitude and run slow and decide that its' memory was full.

You will get a better and faster response with one concise and detailed post. I've read many post and this is the first that mentioned the kind of work you were doing on your computer. I'm assuming your going to be doing some video editing, set your page file to a higher setting:

Not to start an argument, but if you had plans to do video editing, or anything other than surf the web and use microsoft word, why would you get a 2350?
Trust me Sony makes great electronics, but their computers are another thing. If you ordered a real Dell you would be alot happier customer. I never met a 3.06ghz 8250 that ran like an old lady with Turbo Tax in the CDROM!!

YumYum definitely agrees with fredha --
curious as to what type of system (shouldhaveboughtasony) is running??? i am assuming the user may have very limited resources available to be doing video editing on this type of system.
Thanks YumYum

I've tried what you both suggested and have the same problem. When I try to get into scan wizard/maker whatever, I get the insufficient memory error. Now, I can log off of my profile, go to one that is never used and scan all I want, but then there's a problem with the printer in the other profile. These errors constantly pop up in different programs such as Word.
Is there any fix to this?? Did a disk cleanup, my defragment looks great 78% available. Help!
