same problem

i bought a pci 4channel sound card but when i installed it i had the same problem when i installed soundmax.....if anybody can help me here i'd really appreciate it! thanks

We would like to help you, but we need more than "it doesn't work".

What model PC? What operating system? What sound card did you install? Did you disable the on-board Soundmax?

Did you resinstall Windows or even do a complete reinstall? If so, you need to install the Dell chipset drivers before attempting to install the sound.

The 39 error would indicate the device is not being detected and again would go back to not having the Dell chipset drivers installed.

sorry  about that.........its a dimension 2400 running on xp and i turned it off
 
the problem is when i installed it,i got the same message when i installed soundmax before
 
(Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.)

i did reinstalled xp before............is it okay if i just reinstall the chipset driver again???
