DxDmChk to migrate

Is there a guide for using DxDmChk to migrate from Centera to Atmos or another storage device? Using DX6.5.440...Thx!

You find the DxDmChk guide in powerlink atHome > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Software ~ D ~ Documentation > DiskXtender for Windows > 6.5 & Service Packs link  http://powerlink.emc.com/km/appmanager/km/secureDesktop?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=default&internalId=0b01406680513c83&_irrt=true . However DxDmChk will not migrate from Centera to Atmos or other storage.

With DxDmChk it is possible to

- getback all the files to extened drive(similar to compaction)

- remove migration information

From DXW

- freshly migrate to Atmos or other storage.

You need to format Centera media to get back the space in Centera and DX license.

Thank you! So from DX for Windows I would need to add the Atoms and then compact centera media. Correct?

There are different options through which you can move data from Centera to Atmos. Each method has its own pros and cons. You need to consider size of data and in how much time data should be move to another target. Further you can move data in stages.

1. You can compaction each Centera media. This will have heavy impact on Centera. You need to compact each media separately.

2. You can use DxDmCh to get back files and then re-migrate to Atmos

3. Atmos provides some tools for moving data directly from Centera to Atmos-CAS(Not Atmos; Please contact Atmos team for more info).

4. You can use multi-target to synch-up from Centera to Atmos

I would suggest to contact professional services as they have more knowledge on field environment.
