F5 Performance Best Practice for ECS

Hi @all,

IHAC that has just tested performance of the ECS with F5 Loadbalancer.

Without F5 the performance is good, because the client can do multiple transaction without creating a new session for each transaction.

To get the load balancing done by F5, every transaction needs a new session and this slows down the performance.

Do we have best practices for configuring the F5 load balancer, so that not every transaction needs a new session?

Kind regards

Matthias

The ECS/F5 best practices are here:  https://www.emc.com/collateral/white-papers/h16294-dell-emc-ecs-with-f5-wp.pdf

"Use source-address based session persistence. For sites serving a large amount of traffic from a small number of end-points, this may result in an uneven distribution of load. If this is an issue, restrict session persistence to only "PUT" and "POST" operations, if possible. Session persistence should only be disabled as a last resort."
