Hello,

Well, you're not the first person to question this!  Here's a link to another discussion thread discussing how to prepare for the E20-517.

Here is a link to the page that describes the exam in detail.  It will provide you with a full list of topics covered in the exam, and you can assess your experience and readiness for this exam.

You can also find a practice test for the E20-517 at this link.  We recommend that you complete the recommended training, then complete the practice exam to determine if there are areas that you might need to focus on before taking the certification exam.  You can find the training that we offer here.

With these resources, you can map your experience to the areas covered in the courseware and on the certification exam to determine if that's the right exam for you.

Just a note, our EMC Proven Professional certification is developed in a 'building-block' fashion.  First, we recommend completing the Associate level certification, Information Storage and Management.

This course and exam proves your knowledge across a broad range of storage industry technologies.  Just as an example, you may take the E20-517 whenever you like, but you would not achieve the Specialist level of EMC Proven Professional certification until you also complete the Associate course and exam (Information Storage and Management).

I know that's a bit more than you asked for, but please let me know if this is helpful.

I'd be glad to offer more information.  So, what are your plans after looking into this?

Hi Thirtha,

First thing I'd ask is - do you have the Associate's Certification yet?

Second thing I'd ask is - what do you mean by "Storage Testing"?

Gina,

Thanks for the reply.

No..I don't have associate level certification. Also am currently in to testing one of the EMC's Back up and Recovery product called AutoStart, which does comes in Storage domain.

Satish

Michelle,

Thanks for your kind reply. Information that you've provided is really useful.

So is it mandatory to complete the associate level exam before taking up specialist level exam?

I'm planning to take up E20-517 in the 1st step. Pls let me know, if in case im wrong.

Rgds,

Satish

Hello again

You can take exams in any order that you wish.  You won't receive your Specialist certification, though, until you have passed both the Associate level and Specialist exams.

So you can take the E200-517 but you won't achieve the benefits of EMC Proven Professional certification until you also pass the E20-001.

Hope that helps!

Hi Satish,

Like Michelle said you won't have a Specialist certification until you first get the Associate certification. So if you are interested in all the benefits of being a Proven Professional, you definitely want to take that Associate certification first.

You could go a couple of ways with the Specialist certification, depending on what your job role is and what your career goals are. If you need personalized help make sure to email ddproven

Michelle/Gina,

Thanks for the info.

I'll be taking up the associate level certification... I've already bought the book ISM and started preparing for the certification.

I'll be updating the status soon...  Thanks
