Hello Amnesh ,

Welcome to the forum .EMC has got wide range of courses and i would request you to check this link click here. We have to start with Associate level Certification and later you can do a specialist level depending upon your interest. With respect to your query on current certification that you are holding.Congrats for being certified on CCNP Security + RHCE. Security and strong knowledge in Host side will be always an extra edge as your knowledge wont get limited on any specific Storage Models. As you have done RHCE ,that is something which will help you a lot in the long run as unix plays such a vital role .I wish you all the best.

HAPPY LEARNING

Regard's

Hello Amnesh

In EMC, the first step you have to do is prepare and appear for the EMC ISA (Information Storage Associate) exam. For this the best resource is the EMC ISM Book. It will help you to pass the exam. All questions will be based on this book.

Thanks

Hi Amnesh,

I've made the transition from an Application Support Engineer to UNIX/Storage Administrator. One thing I would really emphasize from personal experience is that you won't need a lot of EMC training if you can borrow documents from friends/colleagues. EMC ISM Book (available at major bookstores/online) should be a good place to start to learn/refresh the basic storage concepts and terminology and grow up from there. Till now, I have attended only one EMC training and that too an advanced level course since I was working on my storage systems for the last 1 year and didn't need any basic level training except what I learnt from my team mates, online documentation and a couple of friends who work as Storage Admins/EMC employees themselves. EMC User Guides are fairly detailed. Read through the white papers too. I was fortunate enough to get a break in the storage domain without any prior certifications/courses.

You will always learn much more when you get your hands dirty on the system. It will be difficult to comprehend some concepts and remember things unless you are working on it regularly. So, try if you can get a hands on training or get a chance to see the storage admins in your company working. Check and see if they will help with the basic documentation. Working on wizards and CLI is extremely easy to pick up once your basic storage concepts are clear. Without basic concepts of a few things, I struggle with a lot of stuff myself. No shame in admitting that coz each such day of struggle forces me to clear that doubt and move forward

I wish you a very good luck for your entry to this exciting domain.
