Optiplex 980

Trying my SCCM OSD boot disk to run a task sequence, when WinPE starts, it says Network adapter not detected Downloaded the drivers from Dell, and they appear to be the identical
drivers that Optiplex (60 works fine with. Intel actually has a different driver for the intel 82578 DM adapter in the 980, however SCCM says that driver is not for any supported platforms. Is there soem trick to getting this to boot into WinPE so I can deploy the OS.

No trick involved. The 980 needs a newer NIC driver than the 960 (it may look like the same driver but should have a newer version number). You can remove the 960 driver from your boot package and use the 980 NIC driver instead as it has support for 960 as well.

Make sure you are using the driver that is compatible with the version of WinPE that you are using. WinPE 2.1 needs Vista drivers, WinPE 3.0 needs Win7 drivers.

Hope that helps,

Warren
