Hello,

No, you do not need to disable the cluster service.  Just shut down all passive nodes.  Make sure to refer to both the Open Migrator Product Guide as well as Release notes.

Also, yes you can migrate from MBR to GPT.

I just read my statement and may not have been clear.  The shutting down of the passive nodes applies to 2003 clusters.  In 2008 clusters you do not need to perform this shutdown.  Instead, refer to the 3.12 documentation on completeing a migration.

After you have installed OM, assigned your target disks and rebooted you can shutdown all passive nodes.

HI Guys, can i get any documentation that i can read where we can migrate from mbr to gpt on a windows server 2008 cluster environment...

Maliboo : have you done this before mate?

Huneidi : Did you happen to do this as well?

Yes, I have done it before.  Both the Release notes and Product Guide mention support for GPT.

We are actually afraid of the disk signature as gpt has a hexa value disk signature while mbr don't. ... we are migrating from a mbr disk to gpt..... wonder if it will effect the cluster once we complete the migration.

Thanks.

The cluster will be updated with the details of the target disk during the completion.
