Initiator Name AX100 problem - WWN too short
Hello,
when trying to add my QLA200 as an initiator in navisphere express, it only got a 16 BYTE WWN but Navisphere wants a 32 Byte address.
I read somewhere, that i have to use the wwn + wwpn or something like that but can someone specify what exactly i have to use for the other 16 bytes? (picture with the 00:10.. is just an example instead of my real wwn)
Somehow it worked (i thought i know how it works) before but suddenly it stopped working when i changed the ports and cables when i cleaned the office (its just a test lab).
Regards
Jens K.

there has to be a node WWN on that card, go into the BIOS or load one of the qlogic utilities (used to be called SANSurfer)

each HBA has a node WWN and port WWN, Navisphere is expecting both in nodeWWN:portWWN format

Thank you for the fast respone.
My Problem is:
I try to add a QLA200 HBA and on the card itself (or the utility while i boot the server) there is only the 16 byte Address.
So i guess the number itself is the WWN, but what should i use for the WWNP?
The port of the switch which is connected to the AX100?

I downloaded SANsurfer and i could see both WWN and WWPN.
I added the 32byte number as an initiator but it still wont work :/
When i look at my Fibre Channel switch, both F0 and F1 which are connected to my switch have an "Loss of Signal or Sync".
I still wonder why the setup wont work suddenly anymore.
Any Idea left?

you need to figure out why host will not login to the switch (bad cable, bad sfp on the switch, bad patch panel, bad HBAs)

Thank you very much for your help.
I have connected the client directly to the File Server and its working,
I can add virtual disks for my client.
However if i connect Client<->Switch<->Fileserver, the Fileserver wont see the HBA of the Client.
I guess i will try different ports and see if i can get any results.

try different port on the switch, different cable (make sure RX/TX are correct)

Hmpf,
no error at the ports and the switch is able to see the file server. When switching Tx/Rx, i get an NOS and no Light at the equivalent port, so that wasnt the error.
Still no connection thou..
I really dont know why the hardware should fail suddenly. I dont have to configure anything in the switch, do I?
It worked already as i said before^^

port 20 looks ok. Did you perform the zoning between the AX100 port and your host HBA ?

Good question. I did this before but forgot to redo it this time (i feel stupid now^^).
I will try that again next Tuesday!
Thanks!

Oh.My.God.!
I did forget the zoning. It works now!
If you could see my face now...
Last problem
Both of them cant see each other^^
Edit: I saw that one of the was in Interop mode: open fabric and the other one in interop mode: MCData Fabric.
Both are now in MCData Fabric but both of them state "Redundant Error". They dont recognize each other and neither become a seed switch. Instead both of them claim to be a seed switch.

why are you connecting two switches together, how many total switches do you have ?

2 switches in total.
We want to simulate something like this:
2 Fibre Channel switches which are connectected with each other. The AX100 is connected to both Switches at the same time. The Server is connected to 1 switch.
We want to simulate what happens, when one link / switch fails while transferring data.

nothing happens if zoning is correct and host is using properly configured multi-pathing software.
