Adding PS6100x to PS4000XV

Hi.

I got a PS4000XV with 16x 600 GB 15K SAS.

I will be getting an additional PS6100x with 24x 600 GB 10K SAS.

Questions:

1. Can I join the PS6100X to my PS4000XV pool in order to expand existing capacity on the pool ?

Or should I create a new pool for my PS6100X?

2. What is the best practice when adding new members to an existing pool or separate pool ?

Thanks,

Paul

If youre satisfied with the performance of the PS4000XV than you can add the new member into the same pool and you will see an improvement. To get the maximum out of EQL dont mix different types and size of members in a pool.

Yes you can have different RAID policies wthin a pool. You can use Raid preference for volumes to slightly adjust the location of your data but keep in mind that this is not a fix rule.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer.

My PS4000XV has 15K SAS drives while the PS6100X has 10K SAS drives would it be ok if they were on the same pool ?

Can I have arrays of different RAID policy on the same pool ?

Thanks,

Paul
