Configure Dell Equallogic PS4210 Array

Hello all,

I have been trying to configure a PS4210 on a Cisco SG200 switch that will allow me to back up an ESXi box with all the datastores to no avail.  The array has been setup and pointing to the ESXi box and that part is fine. I just can't seem to configure the switch and IPs so the data can be backed up.

Can someone provide a detailed example of how this should be configured?

I appreciate your help!

The SG200 is  not the best choice switch to carry iSCSI traffic and it's specification looks like it's targeted at small office/home office environments.   This means you are unlikely to find specific guidance on how to optimise this switch configuration to carry iSCSI traffic.    The switch is fine to connect the PS4210 management ports.

In general you would configure the ports intended to carry iSCSI traffic

  1.  A separate VLAN to isolate from other network traffic.
  2. Enable 802.3x flow control on the switch.
  3. Enable spanning tree protocol.
  4. If supported enable jumbo frames on the ports carrying iSCSI traffic.

If you are looking for example configurations of tested switches and configuring iSCSI on operating systems follow the links below.
