Control Module is not installed

Hi there,

Currently have an issue with a PS6100 SAN, we have dual control modules configured.

This morning the secondary control module is now stating an error message of: Control module is not installed.

It also seems that it is constantly rebooting as the power LED is lit up on the unit itself, it sometimes boots up and is view able on the GUI but then it disappears again a minute later with the above error.

Any thoughts of why this has occurred and if there is a simple fix?

Thanks

Good morning,

That typically means the controller is defective and must be replaced.

You can connect to the serial port of that controller for more specific errors.   A small possibility is a defective compact flash card

Hey Donald,

Thanks for the response!

For some reason the secondary module states a solid amber on the LED and PWR is green.

The solid amber as per the dell guide, that its functioning correctly as the secondary module?

But the GUI still states that no controller module is installed. None of the eth ports are flashing.

Have connected a serial cable but then it errors out and now the amber light is gone.

The Event log came back and stated control module has been installed - and then immediately after it states it cant communicate with the primary controller.

Then it has successfully designated itself as a secondary and then states C2F power module is not operating, C2F power module has insufficient hold time.

Any help would be much appreciated, will purchase another controller if required, just weird that it works and than errors out.

Cheers

Hello,

The C2F, "Cache to Flash" board is defective. Which means the controller has to be replaced.

It boots up, connects to primary then restarts is what sounds like is happening.
