Dell HIT Kit 4.7.1 silent install via SCCM
This is driving me crazy. I'm trying to install the Dell Host Integration Tools Kit (HIT Kit) 4.7.1 via SCCM. It's main file is setup64.exe. When i install that manually via command line as myself it installs fine. When I install it via an SCCM application or as system via a PSExec cmd line, it errors out. The command line I'm using is this:
"Setup64.exe" /S /v/qn /V"/L*Vx C:\DellHITKit4.7.1-Install.log"
When I install manually as me, the msi install log shows this line:
** ******* Product: C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Downloaded Installations\{E5912DFD-61C4-4E0B-BD38-3DE1DD4870B3}\SetupMsi64.msi**
When I install via SCCM or a PSexec cmd line, the msi install log shows this line:
** ******* Product: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Downloaded Installations\{E5912DFD-61C4-4E0B-BD38-3DE1DD4870B3}\SetupMsi64.msi**
When I check those respective locations, under my user profile I see the unpacked setup64.msi file. When I check the systemprofile, I don't see a 'Downloaded Installations' folder or any subfolders.
Is this a bug/fluke in this particular piece of software? Is there a permissions issue where it can't extract the msi to that folder?
I'm also trying to deploy version 5.0 of this software and that is working fine when using the above command line. I see the extracted msi in the appdata\downloaded installations folder, which is leading me to think this is a bug/fluke with the 4.7.1 version.
I've also taken that extracted setupmsi64.msi file and tried deploying that, but I'm running into different issues with that.

Hello,
What Windows OS version are you trying to use this on? As it's better to use the current version of HIT if possible.
As there are a number of important fixes in 5.x vs. 4.7.x.

Sorry, I left that out. I'm trying to install 4.7.1 on Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64. We're looking to upgrade our Equallogic and I believe 4.7.1 is the latest version of the HIT kit that is supported for Server 2008 R2 SP1.
I'm deploying 5.0 to Server 2012 R2 and higher and that's installing fine.

Hello,
OK, good. You should probably try HIT/ME v5.1 instead. That is the latest release.

Is 5.1 supported on Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64? From the 4.8 and above documentation, they only list Server 2012 and onward as supported OS's. I don't have the 5.1 software/documentation, but from the 5.0 documentation it says this:

re: W2K8. No, Neither 5.0 or 5.1 support Windows 2008.
The last HIT kit to support Windows 2008 was 4.7.3.

I've packaged up 4.7.3 and it experiences the same behavior.
At this point I'm at my wits end. I'm not sure what else to try.
I've also followed the documentation on how to do an administrative install using the .msi file and that fails, but in a different way. I can't even get that to install when i run it manually after installing the 3 three prereqs (vcredist, mpio and .net 4.0 (which won't install because i have a newer version of .net on there).

Hello,
Since you are running Windows 2012, you shouldn't be using 4.7x HIT kit. You should be using 5.x. Which you indicated does install fine.
