Does the PS5000VX SAN with Firmware v4.3.6 support SCSI-3 Persistent Reservations required by Windows Server 2008 Failover Clustering?

I noticed in the Fix List for firmware v4.3.6 for the PS 5000 Series SAN that they fixed an issue with the Cluster Validation Failing on SCSI-3 Persistent Reservations on Windows Server 2008 which leads me to believe that this SAN supports SCSI-3 Persistent Reservations.  The problem is that when we run the Cluster Validation the test fails on our PS5000 on the SCSI-3 Persistent Reservations test.  Is it supported?  If so, is there any extra configuration on the SAN that needs to be done to have it enabled?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

John

Interesting.  Our PS6500Es are at 4.3.5 and have always passed validation. We've even built a sandbox cluster on ESX 3.5 (major support no-no) which works fine with in-guest attached storage...(SQL Server 2008)

Hello,

There are two parts to the SCSI-3 PR issue, one is on the array that's fixed in 4.3.6.  All customers using SCSI-3 PR need to be at 4.3.6 or greater.

The second part is a fix from MS for the cluster validation test itself,  KB978562  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978562

Once that's done you'll need to re-validate your cluster.
