Equallogic Performance

What is the performance impact of NOT enabling jumbo frames on a Dell Equallogic?

Other than performance, are there other possible problems with NOT enabling jumbo frames?

For most environments there will be little difference.   Jumbo Frames allow for greater efficiency on both the arrays and hosts, but reducing the network overhead.   In larger environments where you are trying to get as much I/O as possible, then Jumbo Frames become more important.

Is is the host or switch that doesn't support Jumbo Frames?   If its the host then still enable jumbo frames and it will negotiate jumbo / standard  on a per iSCSI session.   If you have multiple members in a group, this will allow the array-to-array traffic to run at Jumbo Frames.

If it's the switch then you might want to get another switch.  Switches that can't do both Jumbo Frames and flowcontrol tend not to do well in the bursty I/O nature of iSCSI traffic.
