Hyper-V Server 2012 + Hit Kit 4.5 + EHCM Service

Just spent the last 3-4 hours troubleshooting this problem and wanted to share what I've found so far.

  • PS6100XS with firmware v6.0.1
  • Fresh install of Hyper-V Server 2012
  • Configured iSCSI NICs
  • Fresh install of Hit Kit 4.5
After running the RemoteSetupWiz.exe and entering my PS Group Access settings, the MPIO Settings screen displays a warning at the top: "EqualLogic MPIO is installed. EHCM Service is not running" Trying to manually start EHCMService fails almost instantly.
Here's what I did to "fix" it (it still isn't ideal):
  1. In PowerShell, run Install-WindowsFeature MultiPath-IO
  2. Next, run Remove-WindowsFeature MultiPath-IO
  3. You should now be able to manually start EHCMService
After I reboot, I have to manually start EHCMService. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with EqualLogic tech support, and they didn't have any ideas. I'm going to try this whole process on a second server on Monday and see if I get the same behavior.
