PS5000 Hard Drive Firmware Update

Question

Good Morning,  i have a three member equallogic group (P5000, PS5000e & PS4100) I used the Dell Storage update manager to update all three to V6.0.11, but when I tried to update it to V7.0.10 it asked for disk drive firmware for the PS5000. So I downloaded the Hard Disk Firmware v8.0 and tried to get it to apply, it failed and after further reading the ps5000 has a type 5 controller, and it will not apply. Is there any way of getting this to apply, I tried FTP and using the CLI but no joy, will dell equallogic support apply the firmware if the PS5000 is out of warranty? or is there anything I can do to get it to apply? alternatively can I bypass this disk drive firmware and just update the group to v7.1.8 using ftp and CLI? because using the Dell storage update manager it auto selects the install disk firmware check box.
