SAN HQ 3.0

We have SAN HQ 2.6.0.6787 running on Windows 2003 R2. We want to upgrade to SAN HQ 3.0 but Windows 2003R2 is not supported anymore. Is it possible to make some sort of backup the 2.6 version and restore it into a 3.0 version on another machine?.

Yes, its possible and its very easy. I migrate from WinXP, 2003 to 2012 for 2 customers.

1. Copy the  content of the "log" folder (the one which offer the share) to another system as backup. You need to shutdown the EQLPERF service first

2. Install your Server 2012 and install the old SANHQ 2.6.0.6787 again. Disable the service again. Copy the log folder back and restart the service. Check your data

3. Uprade to 3.0GA. Configure Support Assist. If your SANHQ is running in a another subnet with a FW between read the docs about needed ports (22, 2606)

I dont copy the user preferences beause there is only one account which use the SANHQ Client with defaults (Scheme and so on...)

Took me less than 30min and there wasnt a problem.

Regards,

Joerg

If you copy the log folder on the old server, then paste it to the new server, will you need to change any files to point to the IP address of the new server?
