SRM 5 with Equallogic SRA 2.0

Hi,

I have an issue, where by I have san to san replication setup between a PS4000XV and a PS4000E. I have 3 volumes replicating, but only one of them shows up in SRM 5 on the array managers page. Both SANS were running FW version 5.0.5. I have since updated the PS4000E (DR side) to 5.1.1 H2 and am waiting for some downtime to upgrade the PS4000XV. Is there any reason why this issue may occur. The only odd thing I noticed is the volume that does work seems to have a chap user set up with the name of the DR side (PS4000E) equallogic group, but the authetnication is defined as chap-local, rather than CHAP5. I dont understand why this does not work.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian

I ended up reinstalling the SRA after checking disk mapping. I redownloaded the SRA from the VMware website and installed fresh, this seems ot have fixed the issue. Very bizarre.

You know that may not be as ccrazy as it sounds, as I do believe ive currently got some issues with different LUN mappings. Not becuase of a backup server though. I will try and rectify that first and give it another shot.

The volume that does work is not affected by my issue.

Thanks for the idea!

Hello,

this could be a completely long shot, as we use Compellent, but...

recently we got an issue when 3 Volumes were not visible in SRM. This was due to fact that our Volumes are mapped to our VMWare ESX servers and also to Backup server and LUN numbers were different (e.g. Volume A was mapped as #3 to ESX servers and #4 to backup server).

The solution was to change numbers to match - we removed all mapping from backup server then re-added all volumes using the same number for ESX servers... then rescanned arrays in SRM and all volumes were visible!

hope that helps
